Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Burned Dinners Shouldn’t Last Forever. SERVPRO of Moorhead Will See That They Don’t.

Some mistakes are bigger than others. If you let your attention wander from the kitchen at a crucial moment and have a house fire, you may need to let SERVPRO® of Moorhead know about the damage. We have extensive training in fire-damage restoration and will work to make it “Like it never even happened.”

SERVPRO of Moorhead

According to the National Fire Protection Association, most fires in the United States are preventable; that doesn’t make the effects of residential fires any less damaging, but it does provide hope that we will someday see fewer of them. Until the number of fires goes down, however, we’ll continue to see residential fires, and continue to see the resulting water damage, and other damage, including that from smoke, soot, and possibly even mold or other microbial growth. The franchise professionals at SERVPRO of Moorhead are trained in the cleanup and remediation of all these types of damage; we are leaders in restoration from water, fire, smoke, and other hazards, and we are right here in the neighborhood.

Fires do not schedule themselves for convenient times, so we are available 24 hours a day, every day, with no exceptions. Call any time.

If It’s Not One Thing…

The heat from the fire can burst open pipes, spewing water all over your house. If you’re lucky, it will be water from the mains, which means it is clean water. If not, it will be water from appliances (contaminated from dirty clothing or dishes) or water from the sewage system (worse).

Unless the fire is small and contained, firefighters will use powerful hoses to suppress the fire. While the water they use will be clean, it will not stay clean for long because:

  1. It will contact charred and stained household items and pick up contaminants.
  2. The house may end up at least partly open to the elements.
  3. If you are not allowed into the house for 24 to 48 hours, that is plenty of time for the water to allow ever-present mold spores to open and mold colonies to develop.

The above two scenarios show both water and at least one kind of biohazard being present.

Smoke and soot are always present in residential fires; contemporary buildings include plastics and other non-organic materials that produce residues that require specialized equipment to remove.

While smoke is famous for being a pungent and long-lasting odor, smoke from kitchen fires is particularly bad.

Don’t panic. Our SERVPRO of Moorhead team members has the techniques, experience, and tools to get rid of odors, stains, and hazardous substances.

We will make the damage “Like it never even happened.”

Trivia

The reason a whip makes a sharp crack is that the tip of it travels faster than the speed of sound; it’s a mini sonic boom. The website checked out. We’re skeptical, but there it is.
